In den vorangegangenen Stunden haben sich die Kinder mit der unterschiedlichen Stärke der Magnetkraft diverser Magnetformen und der grundlegenden Eigenschaft eines Magneten,
Gegenstände aus Eisen anzuziehen, auseinandergesetzt. In der heutigen Stunde werden die Kinder durch die handelnde Auseinandersetzung mit dem dargebotenen fabric in shape eines Stationslaufes aktiv entdecken, dass die Magnetkraft in der Lage ist, durch unterschiedliche Materialien hindurchzuwirken und weiterhin Gegenstände aus Eisen anzuziehen, sobald sich diese im Magnetfeld befinden.
Die Thematik ,,Magnetismus” bietet den Kindern die likelihood, ein natürliches Phänomen zu erforschen, indem sie an Verfahren des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens (vermuten, durchführen, überprüfen der Vermutung, dokumentieren) herangeführt werden. Gerade dieses selbstständige Arbeiten ist für die Erschließung ihrer Lebenswirklichkeit unabdingbar. Die Gelegenheit zur Eigentätigkeit wird im Lehrplan besonders hervor gehoben: Der Sachunterricht soll die Kinder durch die Vermittlung von Fähigkeiten, Fertigkeiten und Kenntnissen anregen, eigenständig Dinge zu erforschen, ihre Wissbegier zu fördern und ihre Freude an der forschenden Auseinandersetzung mit ihrer Umwelt zu steigern (vgl.LP 2003, S. 57). Durch diese handelnde Auseinandersetzung mit dem Unterrichtsgegenstand werden Beobachtungen, Empfindungen, Entdeckungen und Erkenntnisse sachgemäß versprachlicht
und somit die Sprachkompetenz der Kinder im Sachunterricht mitgefördert (vgl. LP 2003, S. 58).
